Course Description

This course explains the meaning and principles of sustainable development, community-based natural resource management, and corporate social responsibility. Topics include the three spheres of sustainability, basic concepts of biodiversity and ecosystems, and how human behavior influences the local environment in terms of forests, water, energy and waste. Climate Change adaptation and mitigation at local level and community will also be discussed. Besides looking at communities and their sustainable use of their environments, students will also look at their own organizations, and how to make those organizations more responsible socially and environmentally.
